Stop Head Injuries in the NFL

We've heard a lot about head injuries in the NFL in the past few years.  This is a sport where guys wear helmets.  Maybe people feel more protected because of the helmet. They launch themselves into each other without fear.

I have an idea to redesign the helmet so it can eliminate head injuries.

The current helmets just offer a light cover over the head.  When people get hit in the head, their brain still gets rattled around inside when it is hit.  Plus it does nothing to help with neck compression upon impact.
That's going to hurt both heads.

We have seen the perfect type of helmet to protect heads.
In Toy Story: Buzz Lightyear!

Toy Story Buzz Lightyear
Try getting a head shot on this guy!

Check out that helmet!  If he got hit in the head.. wait, he can't get hit in the head.  If you hit his helmet, there is a huge amount of space between his actual scull and the side of the helmet. If he tried to go helmet to helmet, his neck would also be protected.  Think about all the time we see a guy get paralyzed from crashing the top of his helmet into another player or the ground.  In this case, Buzz's neck wouldn't be affected.  The impact would be felt in his shoulders and the rest of his body.

There is another benefit to this helmet.  We can see his face.  People often complain that you can't see NFL player's faces. This way, you could more easily associate a player with their face.  The NBA pushes players, because you can see them, and you know what they look like.  The average fan knows the famous faces of the NFL, but besides that, they are just a bunch of helmets.

Do you think this could work?   The helmet would have to be a part of the shoulder pads.  They don't move, so it must be possible.  The player would have even better peripheral  vision.

Player could get back to really hammering each other.  We would just have to worry about broken bones and not so much about concussions and dementia and CTE.

Wouldn't that be nice?
